Something that went well this week has been an introduction to the Mole and conversions lesson. I was able to use many different examples to get the students to understand the topic and realize what a mole is and how to use what they know to answer new questions. The best example to get the students to understand that a mole is a word for a number was to use the example of a dozen which got the students to understand that a mole represents something larger which brought about the questions why is it that number and why do we need to know this? It was a great starting point in the lesson to get the students curious about chemistry. We then began working on conversions and the best example I found was converting a yard into inches and showing the students that they know how to do conversions so the math and thinking is no different the only thing that is changing is the conversion factors. The lesson went well in all of my classes. On thing that I am trying to improve upon is questioning; not only asking better questions but I find myself sometimes asking the same students. I need to work on asking a wider variety of students and allow less saying the answer aloud (because I tend to ask questions to the class as a whole at points in my lessons) and giving students more time to answer before I begin to answer questions.
